Chessum Plants started growing roses in Bedfordshire in the mid 1960’s. The business was started by Paul Chessum, initially producing roses in his parent’s back garden. Over the years Chessum’s has expanded to become one of the largest growers of roses in Europe. Customers include many garden centres, DIY stores, Supermarkets and online retailers. Total production in 2015 was over 2,000,000 plants – so if you see a rose for sale in the UK there is a strong chance that it started it’s life in a field in Bedfordshire. One of the main specialities of Chessum Plants is standard rose production. Paul Chessum developed a new growing technique and a new stem. This combination means that Chessum’s standard roses are renowned throughout Europe.
